Unsureness of MUKTA worries MSG to repay debt of about 1 Crore
Hundreds of MSG members are worried about the successful implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Plan in Ulbs under Ganjam. The members of this Mission Shakti Group are worried about working more than 1 Crore rupees in Sorada Ulb under MUKTA. Now there is unsureness, even getting money for supervision of the work. Due to the uncertainty of the release scheme launched by the state government for the empowerment of urban women, everyone is now in a quandary and a big question has arisen about how to allocate so much money to the MSG. To empower urban women in Odisha, the state government launched the Mukhya Mantri Karma Taptar Yojana in 2021. Through this scheme, the government created an opportunity for women to work more and more through MSG members; in some cases this plan has been successful. Under this plan, a forestation, beautification and OSD projects, Road Infrastructure Projects, wall painting, RWHS (Rainwater Harvesting Scheme) project, construction of mini parks, Jim and Child Play equipment, Jogging track and Pedestrian Pathway, etc. have been done in the city. Through this scheme, more than 300 projects have been implemented from 2021 to now with an estimated cost of more than 5 crores; about 800 members of 80 MSG have been able to work and supported their families.
These members have also received a financial grant of about 15 lakh rupees for supervising the project. At present, around 15 MSG members are involved in these projects to receive an average of Rs 1 crore dues. And more than 1 lakh is to be paid for supervision. In this, there is money left for civil works, money for various materials brought for the beautification project and about 1 Crore rupees are due to the vendor. In such a situation, the government has now raised a big question about the financing release under this scheme. The current funding for this department is uncertain. The government has also canceled the contracts of all the coordinators who afforded hard for its smooth completion more than 400 project coordinators have lost their contracts in Odisha. At present, neither the funds are available for this department nor are the officers available of this department. In Sorada ULB the financial burden of 1 crore rupees is also on the women.
At present, when the work of this department is completely closed, everyone is worried about how to get, about 1 crore of rupess. Most important thing is that due to the cancellation of the standard contract of this department, women are now worried about which government officials they will ask to pay so much money and who will make their Paper works and how they will get the money. If this is the case in just one NAC, it is natural that thousands of women in urban areas across the state are currently unemployed. Therefore, hundreds of women are currently waiting for the state government to sanction the funds and re-implement the recruitment of departmental coordinators, pay the arrears and provide jobs through the urban empowerment scheme for women.
