Shabby Condition of Gandhi Memorial Hall Demoralized Gandhian Followers
Today Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated in thorough out the country today. Here is surada the day is also observed at Gandhi Smriti Bhavan under the supervision of Ladu Kishore Das, the president of Gandhi Seba Sangha and the Gandhian follower. On this day and to witness the event all the prominent personalities of the city were present and a hymn program was also organized on this occasion. On behalf of Surada notified area council Executive Officer Prafulla Kumar Vishwawala and Chairperson Shiba Shankar Panda paid floral tributes to Gandhiji. Many social workers were also seen on this occasion. It is normal to see many people paying floral tributes on Gandhi Jayanti. But the fact that the shabby condition of the Gandhi memorial hall has demoralised the hearts of Gandhian believers. Currently, in progressive state, we can see glimpses of development in every field. While many improvement works have been seen, including beautification of roads and drinking water, but no government official has noticed the Gandhi memorial building till now.
The point of regret is that every day many officials used to pass through this road, but no one paid an eye to it. The saddest thing is that a grant of 7 lakh rupees was given by the District Rural Development Agency, Chatrapur for the construction of this memorial building in the financial year 2014-15 but it is still remained incomplete. Many addicts, including cattle can be seen here. Only on the occasion of National Day, this memorial building is seen to be clean. Even though the council body of this urban local body has decided to grant the expenditure in this regard, so far the financial sanction has not been approved.
In this regard, Surada NAC Chairperson Siba Shankar Panda said that arrangements will be made to install doors and windows here as soon as possible and the Executive Officer Prafulla Biswal said that the restoration work of Gandhi Memorial Bhavan will be completed soon. The President of Gandhi Smriti Seva sangha and a Gandhian follower Ladu Kishore Das said that from the district administration to the local administration, only some promises are made.
